Jabsco® Y-Valve Earns Practical Sailor Editor’s Choice Award
BEVERLY, MA – October 2, 2012 – Practical Sailor magazine has honored Xylem’s Jabsco® Y-Valve diverter valve with a 2012 Editor's Choice Award. The magazine's Editor's Choice awards highlight a select group of products that represent outstanding quality and value. This year's winners were tested and chosen by the Practical Sailor editorial team from among hundreds of products. The Jabsco Y-Valve was one of only 18 products to be honored.
"When it comes to the Editor's Choice Awards, we look for products that clearly stand out among their peers during our independent tests as the best in their category, and whose performance earns the confidence of our editors," said Darrell Nicholson, Editor, Practical Sailor. “In our tests, we found the Jabsco Y-Valve easy to disassemble for cleaning and lubricating, and its operation was notably smooth, with positive stops and no leaks.”
For more than 30 years, the magazine has been regarded by serious sailors and DIY boat owners for its unbiased evaluations of sailing products and related services.
The Jabsco Y-Valve is designed to provide flexibility of onboard waste management by diverting waste either into an onboard holding tank or directly overboard (where legal to do so). The Jabsco Y-Valve has a large footprint and comes with two curved, 120-degree, 1.5-inch discharge ports that can rotate in any direction to make plumbing it easier. It comes with both 1.5- and 1-inch screw-in inlet port adapters. The body and handle have holes for accommodating a padlock to prevent discharge and ensure compliance with discharge regulations. The valve body is made of chemical- and corrosion-resistant polypropylene with stainless-steel bolts, screws, and bright silver, inlaid flow arrows, and the ports and diverter shaft feature replaceable O-ring seals.
The Jabsco Y-Valve may also be used in a bilge pumping system to select between two separate bilge pickups in different bilge compartments, providing for evacuation of two separate bilge areas with only one bilge pump.
"With our valves and other marine products in service on over 10 million boats across the globe, we are thrilled to be recognized by Practical Sailor," said Steve Tilders, Global Director of Marine Sales for Xylem’s Applied Water System business. "This award is a testament to the performance of the Jabsco Y-Valve, and we truly appreciate the honor."
