All-in-one Waste Management Tank
Xylem Jabsco’s latest solution for on-board waste management has sophisticated electronic remote control and measurement facilities, complete with a heavy-duty macerator evacuation pump, and this initial model incorporates a robust 30 litre (7.5 US gallon) polyethylene holding tank.
The remote control touch pad, which can be located at any convenient point on board, shows the level in the tank to the nearest increment of an 1/8th of the contents. When switched on, the indicator stays lit for one minute before turning off. If the tank reaches three-quarters full, the LED indicator will light automatically and blink continuously. However if the flashing constitutes an annoyance, the function can be put into ‘sleep’ mode and will only re-activate if the level in the tank changes, or there is power loss.
To guarantee very accurate measurement of tank levels, electronic sensors take two types of average readings: One when filling and one when emptying. This ensures any movement of the boat is compensated for during operation, or in rough weather.
The pump out button needs to be depressed for three seconds before it starts, reducing the risk of accidental activation. The pump automatically stops when it senses the tank is empty. It will also switch off if it detects no fluid movement. This protects the motor and impeller from damage and also avoids the possibility of pipe rupture, if, for example, it is pumping against a closed sea-cock. An LED indicator flashes on the control panel to alert the operator to the fault.
The three outlets on the tank allow for emptying over-side through a skin fitting, or dock side evacuation, as well as for a vent pipe. There is also an inspection hatch for tank cleaning.
The package provides an easy to install all inclusive system, either for OEM’s or as a retro-fit by boat owners. Maximum dimensions are 31cm (12 1/8th inches) high x 44cm (17 3/8th inches) long x 36cm (14 inches) wide.
